North Carolina Mayors Association
Mayors presiding over North Carolina’s future
Welcome
The purpose of the North Carolina Mayors Association is to offer opportunities for mayors to network, improve the understanding of municipal government, and work to make their communities better together.
The NC Mayors Association is an affiliate organization of the NC League of Municipalities. The Association and the League work cooperatively to represent the best interests of mayors and municipalities across North Carolina.
About Us
Founded in 2017, the NC Mayors Association was created to offer unique services to mayors tailored to fit the needs of the unique job. The Founding Board of Directors solicited ideas for membership meetings, developed valuable relationships with state leaders, and encouraged their colleagues to join. Since 2017, the NC Mayors Association has grown to nearly 200 mayors ranging from towns with populations of 400 to the state’s largest city of almost 900,000 residents.
Membership & Benefits
With nearly 200 members across the state, the NC Mayors Association is the premier organization for mayors to network, learn, and work together. The NC Mayors Association membership is open to all mayors in all of North Carolina’s cities and towns from the biggest to the smallest. We have a proven track record of offering relevant education and information sharing that allows us to return to our communities to implement effective solutions.
Membership meetings are held in-person the second week in February, end of April during NCLM's CityVision annual conference, the third week in September, and the first Tuesday of December. Locations alternate between the mountains and coast, with the December meeting held via Zoom. The Board of Directors are elected at the NC Mayors' April Business Meeting held during CityVision.
Active membership spans from July 1 to June 30 and must be renewed each year.
Membership rates are based on municipal population:
Population less that 1,000 - $100
Population 1,001 – 5,000 - $200
Population 5,001 – 25,000 - $300
Population more than 25,000 - $400
Meetings & Networking
The Association meets in person three times a year and once virtually. Each meeting includes need-to-know information and updates, as well as ample networking opportunities for members to share challenges and solutions from their communities while learning from others.
High-Quality Education
Through membership meetings and standalone offerings, mayors will receive tailor educational opportunities aimed at sharpening skills specific to the role of mayor.
Listserv
The learning and information sharing doesn’t stop with the membership meetings. Active members of the Association have full access to the Mayors’ Listserv where members can ask questions and share notable news.
